Medicine Information

Product information:

Tagrid-O Tablet is an anti-infective combination containing Ofloxacin and Ornidazole. It is used for the management of certain bacterial and protozoal infections, particularly infections involving the gastrointestinal tract, as prescribed by a healthcare professional.

The combination works against susceptible microorganisms to help control the infection and associated symptoms.

Key Benefits:

  • Ofloxacin (fluoroquinolone) targets bacterial DNA gyrase, while Ornidazole (nitroimidazole) acts against protozoa and anaerobic bacteria.
  • Effective against Gram‑positive, Gram‑negative bacteria, and protozoal infections.
  • Provides quick improvement in fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and infection‑related discomfort.
  • Suitable for gastrointestinal, genitourinary, dental, and post‑surgical infections where both bacteria and protozoa are involved.
  • Combination therapy reduces risk of relapse and resistance compared to monotherapy.
  • Tablet form ensures ease of administration and better patient compliance.
  • Widely prescribed for amoebic dysentery, bacterial diarrhea, and mixed GI infections.

Directions for use:

Take Tagrid-O Tablet exactly as prescribed by your physician. Swallow the tablet whole with sufficient water; do not crush or chew it. Take it at the same time each day for consistent therapeutic effect. Complete the prescribed course even if you start feeling better.

Avoid taking antacids or mineral supplements containing aluminium, magnesium, calcium, iron or zinc at the same time, as they may reduce absorption of ofloxacin. Maintain an appropriate time gap as advised by your healthcare professional.

Storage and Safety Information:

  • Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Do not use after the expiry date or if the packaging is damaged.
  • Inform your doctor if you have a history of tendon problems, seizures, neurological disorders, kidney disease, or heart rhythm abnormalities.
  • Ofloxacin may rarely cause tendon inflammation or rupture, nerve-related symptoms, or changes in heart rhythm. Seek medical attention if significant pain/swelling in a tendon, numbness/tingling, severe dizziness, fainting, or palpitations occur.
  • Avoid excessive exposure to direct sunlight during treatment if you experience increased sensitivity to sunlight.
  • Inform your healthcare professional about all medicines and supplements you are taking.
  • Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only under medical supervision.
