Medicine Information

Product information:

Oftra-Plus Dry Syrup is a combination antimicrobial formulation containing Ofloxacin and Cefixime, along with Lactobacillus spores. The combination is intended for the treatment of selected susceptible bacterial infections involving the respiratory, gastrointestinal and urinary tracts.

Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibacterial agent, while Cefixime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. Lactobacillus spores are included to support intestinal microbial balance during antibiotic therapy.

Key Benefits:

  • Combines two powerful antibiotics with a probiotic for effective infection control and gut protection.
  • Ofloxacin and Cefixime work synergistically against a wide range of Gram‑positive and Gram‑negative bacteria.
  • Useful in respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, and ENT infections.
  • Helps provide faster improvement in fever, pain, cough, sore throat, and infection‑related discomfort.
  • Dual antibiotic therapy improves bacterial eradication and helps reduce treatment failure.
  • Lactobacillus spores help restore normal intestinal microflora and maintain digestive balance.
  • Dry syrup ensures accurate dosing, easy administration, and better compliance in children.

Directions for use:

Use only as directed by the physician. Reconstitute the dry syrup with the specified quantity of clean/boiled-and-cooled water, according to the instructions on the product label. Add water in portions and shake well after each addition to obtain a uniform suspension.

Shake well before every use. The dose and duration should be determined by the physician according to the patient's age, body weight, type and severity of infection and clinical response.

Do not use leftover antibiotic suspension for another illness.

Storage and Safety Information:

  • Store the dry powder in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight and moisture. Comparable cefixime–ofloxacin dry-syrup products specify storage below 30°C.
  • After reconstitution, follow the storage conditions and in-use period specified on the approved product label/package insert; these can vary by formulation.
  • Keep out of reach of children. This is a prescription antibiotic and should be used only under medical supervision.
  • Ofloxacin may cause gastrointestinal disturbances and, rarely, serious adverse effects involving tendons, nerves or the central nervous system.
  • Tell the physician about all medicines and supplements being taken, as some medicines may interact with ofloxacin or cefixime.
  • Lactobacillus is included to support intestinal microbial balance, but it does not eliminate the possibility of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea.
  • Antibiotics should be used judiciously to help minimise antimicrobial resistance.
