Product information:

Metzolid Tablet contains Linezolid 600 mg, an oxazolidinone-class antibacterial medicine used for the treatment of certain serious bacterial infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive bacteria.

It may be prescribed for conditions such as pneumonia and complicated skin and soft-tissue infections when clinically appropriate.

Key Benefits:

  • Inhibits protein synthesis by binding to 23S rRNA of the 50S ribosomal subunit and prevents 70S initiation complex formation.
  • Reliable in pneumonia, skin/soft tissue infections, and complicated systemic infections.
  • Effective against MRSA (Methicillin‑resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and VRE (Vancomycin‑resistant Enterococcus).
  • Oral dose achieves plasma levels equivalent to IV providing flexible inpatient & outpatient use.
  • Controls bacterial multiplication effectively in severe infections.
  • Distinct mechanism ensures efficacy where other antibiotics fail.
  • Trusted in hospital settings for resistant Gram‑positive infections.

Directions for use:

Take Metzolid Tablet exactly as prescribed by your physician. Swallow the tablet whole with water; it may be taken with or without food. Take doses at evenly spaced intervals and complete the prescribed course, even if symptoms improve.

Do not skip doses or discontinue treatment without medical advice. Avoid self-medication or use for viral infections such as common cold or influenza.

Storage and Safety Information:

  • Keep out of reach and sight of children.
  • Linezolid can cause decreased blood cell counts, particularly during prolonged treatment; your doctor may recommend periodic blood tests.
  • Prolonged use may rarely cause peripheral or optic neuropathy or other serious adverse effects.
  • Inform your doctor if you develop persistent diarrhoea, unusual bruising/bleeding, vision changes, numbness or tingling.
  • Linezolid may interact with antidepressants and other serotonergic medicines, as well as certain medicines affecting blood pressure. Inform your doctor about all medicines you take.
  • Avoid excessive consumption of foods very high in tyramine during treatment, as advised by your healthcare professional.
  • Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only after consultation with a healthcare professional.
