Medicine Information

Product information:

Cidbact Tablet contains Cefuroxime Axetil, a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used for the treatment of certain susceptible bacterial infections. It may be prescribed for selected respiratory tract, ear, urinary tract, skin and soft-tissue infections, and other bacterial infections as determined by a healthcare professional.

It works by interfering with bacterial cell-wall formation, thereby helping to stop the growth of susceptible bacteria.

Key Benefits:

  • Effective against Gram‑positive and Gram‑negative bacteria, including β‑lactamase‑producing strains.
  • Trusted therapy for respiratory tract infections, ENT infections, urinary tract infections, and skin/soft tissue infections.
  • Axetil prodrug ensures good oral absorption and bioavailability which is suitable for outpatient therapy.
  • Provides quick resolution of fever, cough, sore throat, and infection‑related discomfort.
  • Safe for prolonged use with minimal gastrointestinal side effects compared to older antibiotics.
  • Recognized second‑generation cephalosporin with established clinical success.

Directions for use:

Take Cidbact Tablet exactly as prescribed by your physician. Swallow the tablet whole with sufficient water; do not crush or chew unless advised otherwise. Take after food, as food improves the absorption of cefuroxime axetil.

Complete the full prescribed course, even if symptoms improve before the course is finished.

Storage and Safety Information:

  • Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Inform your doctor if you have a history of allergy to cefuroxime, cephalosporins, penicillins or other beta-lactam antibiotics.
  • Use with caution in patients with kidney impairment, as dose adjustment may be required.
  • Common adverse effects may include nausea, diarrhoea, abdominal discomfort or headache.
  • Seek medical advice if severe or persistent diarrhoea develops during or after treatment.
  • Inform your healthcare professional about all medicines and supplements you are taking.
  • Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only on medical advice.
