Medicine Information

Product information:

Barrister-DS Syrup is a combination of Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid, formulated to treat a range of bacterial infections. This combination helps extend the antibacterial activity of Amoxicillin against susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria.

Amoxicillin is a penicillin-class antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell-wall synthesis, while Clavulanic Acid helps protect Amoxicillin from degradation by certain bacterial beta-lactamase enzymes.

Key Benefits:

  • Effective against a wide range of Gram‑positive and Gram‑negative bacteria responsible for common pediatric infections.
  • Amoxicillin kills susceptible bacteria, while Clavulanic Acid inhibits β‑lactamase enzymes that cause antibiotic resistance.
  • Helps overcome β‑lactamase‑producing bacteria, improving treatment success.
  • Provides quick relief from symptoms such as fever, sore throat, ear pain, cough, and infection‑related discomfort.
  • Commonly prescribed for respiratory tract infections, ENT infections, urinary tract infections, and skin & soft tissue infections.
  • Combination therapy offers greater efficacy compared to amoxicillin alone.
  • Dry syrup formulation allows accurate dosing and easy administration in children.
  • Widely used for effective management of moderate to severe bacterial infections in children.

Directions for use:

Take Barrister-DS exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Shake the bottle well before each use. Reconstitute it strictly according to the instructions provided with the product.

The suspension should generally be taken at the start of a meal to improve absorption and reduce the possibility of gastrointestinal intolerance. Do not skip doses or stop treatment prematurely without medical advice.

Storage and Safety Information:

  • Store the dry powder according to the storage instructions on the product label.
  • After reconstitution, keep the suspension refrigerated and shake well before each use.
  • Reconstituted suspension should generally be discarded after 10 days.
  • Keep the medicine tightly closed and out of reach of children.
  • Do not use this medicine if there is a known serious allergy to Amoxicillin, Penicillins, Clavulanic Acid or other beta-lactam antibiotics.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if signs of a serious allergic reaction occur, such as difficulty breathing, facial or throat swelling, or severe skin reactions.
  • Antibiotics should be used only for bacterial infections and should not be used for viral infections such as the common cold or influenza. Appropriate use helps reduce the risk of antibiotic resistance.
  • For use under medical supervision.
