It is used in the management of hyperthyroidism, including conditions such as Graves' disease and toxic multinodular goitre, as prescribed by a healthcare professional.

Directions for use:

Do not stop treatment abruptly unless instructed by your physician.

Storage and Safety Information:

  • Store in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight and moisture.
  • Keep out of reach and sight of children.
  • Methimazole may rarely cause agranulocytosis, a potentially serious reduction in white blood cells. Report fever, sore throat or signs of infection immediately to your doctor.
  • Seek medical advice if you develop loss of appetite, itching, abdominal discomfort, yellowing of the skin/eyes or other signs of liver problems.
  • Regular monitoring of thyroid function is important during treatment.
  • Inform your doctor about any existing liver or blood disorders and all medicines you are taking.
  • Methimazole can affect pregnancy, particularly during the first trimester. If you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or become pregnant during treatment, contact your doctor promptly.
