Medicine Information

Product information:

ABBAPIME-S is a combination of Cefepime and Sulbactam, formulated for the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections as determined by a healthcare professional.

Cefepime is a fourth-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial cell-wall synthesis. Sulbactam helps inhibit certain beta-lactamase enzymes produced by bacteria, which may help protect the antibiotic from enzymatic degradation.

Key Benefits:

  • Combines the broad‑spectrum activity of Cefepime with the β‑lactamase inhibiting action of Sulbactam for enhanced antibacterial efficacy.
  • Sulbactam protects Cefepime from bacterial β‑lactamase enzymes, improving activity against resistant organisms.
  • Active against a wide range of Gram‑positive and Gram‑negative bacteria, including many hospital‑acquired pathogens.
  • Cefepime inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to quick bacterial eradication and faster clinical improvement.
  • Commonly used in respiratory tract infections, septicemia, urinary tract infections, intra‑abdominal infections, skin & soft tissue infections, and febrile neutropenia.
  • Suitable for serious and complicated infections requiring injectable broad‑spectrum antibiotic therapy.
  • Reliable option for managing moderate to severe bacterial infections in hospitalized patients.

Directions for use:

Use only under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional. The vial must be reconstituted and administered according to the approved product instructions.

The dose, frequency, route, and duration of treatment must be determined by the treating physician.

Storage and Safety Information:

  • Store according to the conditions specified on the approved product label.
  • Protect the unopened vial from excessive heat, moisture, and direct sunlight.
  • Keep out of reach and sight of children.
  • Inform the physician about any history of allergy to cefepime, cephalosporins, penicillins, or other beta-lactam antibiotics.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if severe allergic reactions, breathing difficulty, severe skin reactions, or persistent/severe diarrhoea occur.
  • Reconstituted solutions must be prepared, stored, and used according to the manufacturer's approved instructions.
  • Antibiotics should be used only when prescribed and should not be used to treat viral infections.
